The erotics of power

This building once saw the birth of a republic. Now it's full of techno-crats unable to cope with economic burdens. Anyhow, it still attracts tourists wich isn't all that bad.

The old revisited

Old stones revisited now and again.

LOCATION: Plaça del Rei, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

Risky postures

A precious portrait deserves all our efforts to get it right.

LOCATION: Fonts de Montjuïc, Av. Reina Maria Cristina, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

Photography and gender

Unlike football or computer science, photography is probably a gender neutral activity, meaning that we see no gender differences in the amount of people that takes photos, even amongst professional shooters. But, are there gender differences in what do we shoot at?

The dark side of the earth

Colors change at night. I loved the intense purple of the light against the dark skins.

Women objectified

This shot proves that John Berger's thesis on the role of women in photographs expressed in the book "Ways of seeing" is far from wrong.

The camera lucida

Photography is always an enlighting experience. It helps you see things in a completely different way. I can't understand why people think photography can be realistic at all. A photograph is very loosely related with reality, no matter what they might try to tell you out there. The girl in this shot wasn't really looking this way, it was just me who saw her that charming. Besides, it was too dark to see anything with our nacked eyes, it was the digital sensor working at 12400 ASA that did the job by capturing a few lost photons here and there. Do you still think this is reality? LOCATION: Fonts de Montjuïc, Av. Reina Maria Cristina, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

The excitement of taking someone's picture

We take many things for granted theese days, but taking someone's picture is a magic misterious experience no matter how many times it has been done. It's like taking away your model's soul. I imagine this guy in the shot trying to steal his fiance's essence in that single gorgeous shot. This extraction process needs a stable base, as you can clearly see. LOCATION: Plaça Reial, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

Introductory post

When we travel, we all aproach photography in different ways but
similar behavioural patterns arise. The shots in this blog will try to
show you some of theese patterns. We all have seen them, this is just a revival effort. LOCATION: Fonts de Montjuïc, Av. Reina Maria Cristina, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
